Sustainability at the
UEFA EURO 2024 in Stuttgart

Focus on people and the environment

UEFA EURO 2024 was a unique football spectacle. It was a pleasure for the Host City Stuttgart to organise a football festival full of enthusiasm and community.
In doing so, it naturally looked beyond the edge of the pitch. Host City Stuttgart took responsibility - for the environment and for society.

Sustainability was one of the key themes of UEFA EURO 2024. The federal government, the federal states, the ten host cities and national and European football committed themselves early on to setting high standards in terms of social, ecological and economic sustainability for UEFA EURO 2024. Ecological, social and economic aspects were taken into account from the outset in the planning and organisation of UEFA EURO 2024 in Stuttgart. With all our sustainability endeavours, the UEFA EURO 2024 in our city could be a further step towards making Stuttgart climate-neutral by 2035.

Sustainability concerns us all

In specific terms, this means that the UEFA EURO 2024 in Stuttgart reduced environmental costs, strengthened the community, respected human rights and promoted health. The topics that are important to us all were communicated in a playful way, without pointing fingers and with a lot of positive energy.

The aim was to inspire and motivate all employees, fans and visitors to Host City Stuttgart to engage with the topic of sustainability and rethink their own actions. The motto was: Sustainability concerns us all! And Host City Stuttgart is setting a good example.

Sustainability stand at the Fan Zone

There was a sustainability stand in the Fan Zone Karlsplatz, where various sustainable players were presenting themselves. With the sustainability stand, Host City Stuttgart wanted to give visitors an understanding of the many different areas of sustainability and how they can be implemented in everyday life and thus contribute to education for sustainable development. The stand featured a wide range of topics from the diverse field of sustainability.

Host City Stuttgart is very keen to position sustainability as a fundamental topic in soccer and beyond. The variety of topics covered by the exhibitors ranged from environmental protection and the participation of people with disabilities to sustainability in sport and many different aspects of sustainability.
