Promoting activity and well-being
Exercise and nutrition are two important factors for a healthy life. That's why, as Host City Stuttgart, we wanted to actively support the health and well-being of our visitors during UEFA EURO 2024. In addition to a healthy and sustainable gastronomic offering, there were plenty of activities to encourage physical activity and opportunities to educate yourself in a playful way about the importance of exercise and healthy eating.
Movement
The motto: Don't just watch the footballers play sport, get active yourself! Host City Stuttgart motivated fans to do this, for example, via:
- Attractive alternative travel options by bike or on foot.
- Movement tools and playful movement promotion in the Fan Zones.
Even the youngest children were encouraged to exercise. In cooperation with the Stuttgart Office for Sport and Exercise, Host City Stuttgart supported the promotion of physical activity in day-care centres. The KiTa Movement Pass 2024 was available as a special "UEFA EURO 2024" edition.
Enjoyment with a clear conscience
Visitors to the UEFA
EURO 2024 in Stuttgart could also look forward to a wide range
of healthy dishes. Sure – if you wanted to, you could also get the classic
stadium sausage. Some of the Fan Zones even offered exclusively
meat-free products. Because eating less meat is good for health and
the climate.
The catering
units in the Fan Zones were also operated almost exclusively by local
caterers. Aspects such as regionality
and seasonality of ingredients as well as the labelling of
ingredients played an important role in the selection of caterers.
There also were requirements for occupational health, safety and
waste avoidance/ Disposal.
Water is life
It is particularly important to drink enough water in summer. Our visitors and residents of the city were offered free drinking water at drinking water fountains and installations. You could also fill up your own water bottle in many retail outlets in Stuttgart. You could find out what these are at https://refill-deutschland.de/stuttgart/
