Stuttgart – The whole city a stadium
From 14 June to 14 July, football history will be made in Germany – and Host City Stuttgart will also be under the spotlight of the sporting world. Five UEFA EURO 2024 matches will be played in our traditional football metropolis on the Neckar, including at least one appearance by the German national team. We are also welcoming four more national teams to Stuttgart: Scotland, Belgium, Switzerland and Hungary. "This is a great combination of footballing quality and enthusiasm," said Dr. Frank Nopper after the group draw on 2 December 2023 at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
"United by Football. United in the heart of Europe" is the motto of this tournament of superlatives. We have been eagerly awaiting the kick-off in Stuttgart for months. As a cosmopolitan, lively and modern city, we want to inspire all guests of the big football festival. Our claim as Host City is to be taken literally: "The whole city a stadium." Our entire region is looking forward to this top event and the guests from all over the world. Welcome to Stuttgart!
Enthusiasm in the heart of the city
In the centre of the city, surrounded by unique historical backdrops, we Stuttgart residents are celebrating a football festival of encounters and joy together with our guests from all over the world. The centrepiece is the public viewing on gigantic screens on the Schlossplatz. Up to 30,000 fans can cheer and celebrate here.
Numerous other activities spread throughout Stuttgart turn the entire city into a stadium. They frame the UEFA EURO 2024 in the way it deserves: international, cordial and full of enthusiasm for an unforgettable sporting event.
Fan Zone Schlossplatz
A unique backdrop: Stuttgart residents and guests from all over the world can watch the UEFA EURO 2024 matches live in front of the New Palace in the city centre. Two huge screens (one at 144 square metres, the other at 63 square metres) provide a good view of the action. A wide range of catering options and an attractive supporting programme – even on non-match days, of course – round off what this unique Fan Zone has to offer. Other free activities such as a football pitch, beach football, table football, teqball, e-sports and numerous sponsor activities also offer plenty of opportunities to get active. Admission is free.
Fan Zone Marktplatz
The Fan Zone Marketplace offers space for Activities & Family. A Football Court invites you to play football as well as other physical activities such as yoga. A varied programme such as goal wall shooting, obstacle courses and more will take place in our outdoor activity area. Our indoor activity area features a Creator Studio, games consoles for e-sports, table football, Bolzbox football and a mini-museum. A multifunctional room will be available for interviews, lectures and workshops.
Fan Zone Karlsplatz
For all those who want to put football aside for a few moments, we offer a space for culture and music in our Karlsplatz Fan Zone. Various programmes from the fields of music, dance and theatre are performed on our cultural stage. A chill-out area with cosy seating invites you to rest awhile. And if you feel like playing football again, you can compete with others on our beach football field. Incidentally, we offer you exclusively vegetarian and vegan food and beverage here.
The Karlsplatz Fan Zone is also the location of our Fan Embassy, where we welcome fans from all over the world and provide them with fan-specific information and offers.
Fan Zone Schillerplatz
Our Regional Food & Drinks Fan Zone on Schillerplatz offers all football fans the chance to taste and appreciate typical Swabian specialities, vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Numerous other activities throughout the city will turn the entire city into a stadium. And give the UEFA EURO 2024 the setting it deserves: international, warm and full of enthusiasm for an unforgettable sporting event.
There are 1000 reasons for an extension in Stuttgart
We're expecting many thousands of guests from all over the world in Host City Stuttgart for this major event. With numerous campaigns and projects relating to UEFA EURO 2024, we, the hosts, are showing that we are both close to home and open to the world. The European Championship is much more than just a football tournament. Thomas Pollack, Head Project Manager of Host City Stuttgart emphasises that: "For us, sustainable change and innovative thinking go hand in hand with tried-and-tested methods and lived tradition. History can be written on and off the pitch in Stuttgart."
Sustainability – thinking about tomorrow today
Stuttgart is characterised by joy and enthusiasm for a unique football spectacle. As Host City, we also look beyond the pitch and take on social responsibility. Sustainability is an integral part of UEFA EURO 2024 in Stuttgart. This is reflected, among other things, in the use of renewable energies, the support and promotion of sustainable mobility and numerous other measures relating to the environment, exercise & nutrition, and society.
The Stuttgart Arena – an ultra-modern stadium for maximum fun
Football history has often been written in Germany's sixth largest sports centre. In the legendary summer fairytale of 2006, the German team won the match for third place in the World Cup here and sparked a unique football euphoria in the Stuttgart region. Just in time for the European Championships in Germany, Stuttgart Arena is being extensively modernised and will then meet the highest international standards.
The Five UEFA EURO 2024 Matches in Stuttgart
Even after the group stage, it will far from over for us in Host City Stuttgart. Following this, we will host another UEFA EURO 2024 match in the quarter-finals on Friday, 5 July 2024 at 6 pm. Who is going to play in the Arena Stuttgart will only be determined by the course of the tournament. However, it is conceivable that the DFB squad will once again line up in Stuttgart.

The Volunteers – The Friendly Face of Our City
1600 volunteers are helping Host City Stuttgart to turn UEFA EURO 2024 into an inspiring football festival. In keeping with the motto 'In the thick of it instead of just part of it,' these highly motivated and specially trained volunteers will showcase Stuttgart in all its diversity. As ambassadors of the Host City, they will be actively on hand to offer help and advice to guests from all over the world, whether in the Fan Zones, at transportation hubs, or in the media center. Their helpfulness and friendly demeanor play a crucial role in creating a welcoming culture in Stuttgart that is as warm as it is unique.
