Group draw

02.12.2023
Germany, Scotland, Belgium, Denmark, Slovenia and Hungary play in our host city Stuttgart.

The delegation from the host city of Stuttgart, led by Lord Mayor Dr Frank Nopper and Host City Ambassador Cacau, was delighted after the final draw on 2 December 2023 at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. In addition to the German national team, we welcome Scotland, Belgium, Denmark, Slovenia and Hungary: teams that, according to Lord Mayor Dr Frank Nopper, are good for Stuttgart with many attractive matches.

It all kicks off in Stuttgart with the preliminary round match in Group C on Sunday, 16 June 2024. The match between Slovenia and Denmark will kick off at 6pm. On Wednesday, 19 June 2024, the DFB team will come to Stuttgart. The German national team will then face Hungary at 6pm in their second match after the opening game in Munich (14 June against Scotland).

And the DFB squad's Group A remains the focus of the third match on Sunday, 23 June 2024. In the Arena Stuttgart, Hungary will face Scotland in the final preliminary round match of Group A at 9pm.

The last preliminary round match in Group E will also captivate the fans. The play-off winner B (Israel/Iceland/Bosnia-Herzegovina or Ukraine) will play Belgium on Wednesday, 26 June 2024 at 6 pm. The return of the two Swabians Domenico Tedesco and Andreas Hinkel, who will be on the bench in the Stuttgart Arena as coaches of the Belgians and their superstar Kevin de Bruyne, will be interesting.

"With these teams, we have a good combination of footballing quality and enthusiasm," says Dr Frank Nopper, visibly satisfied. "Scotland, Denmark, Belgium and Hungary – these are nations that bring a lot of fans with them and play really great football. And Hungary will play here twice: in the first match against Germany and then against Scotland. We will experience a great atmosphere in the arena and the Fan Zone in the city centre on those days at UEFA EURO 2024. We're also hoping for a second match with the German national team in the quarter-finals."

Together with Host City ambassador Cacau, Lord Mayor Dr Nopper talked shop briefly with sports director Rudi Völler about Germany's Group A with the teams from Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland. Rudi Völler: "We're looking forward to the match against Hungary in Stuttgart." And he also congratulated the Danish, Scottish and Belgian fans on the other games.

For former international striker and Stuttgart ambassador Cacau, it was a "super draw". "We have a lot of good games in Stuttgart, with teams that bring a lot of emotion. This is true on the pitch, but also for their fans. Stuttgart has a lot to look forward to, especially with Scotland. They were some of the best fans I've ever played in front of. They're enthusiastic, loud and amicable. But the match between Germany and Hungary will also be an absolute highlight and is one that has its own history with the miracle of Bern in 1954."

Even after the group stage, it will far from over for us in Host City Stuttgart. Following this, we will host another UEFA EURO 2024 match in the quarter-finals on Friday, 5 July 2024 at 6 pm. Who will play in the Arena Stuttgart will only be determined by the course of the tournament. However, it is conceivable that the DFB squad will once again line up in Stuttgart. We wish them well and, of course, all football fans who are rooting for national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team. Andreas Kroll, Managing Director of in.Stuttgart Veranstaltungsgesellschaft, who also watched the group draw live at the Elbphilharmonie, is convinced: "I think we can look forward to some outstanding matches at UEFA EURO 2024. Stuttgart will present itself as a cosmopolitan host city."
