WE SAVE YOUR LIFE! - Exciting insights into the work of the emergency services on Blue Light Day
While in two days in the Host City Stuttgart it will be decided whether the German or Spanish team will advance to one of the two semi-finals and can continue to dream of winning the European Championship 2024, the Host City Stuttgart is already looking ahead to the next match-free day on July 7. The focus in Stuttgart will then be on all the emergency services that ensure that major events such as UEFA EURO 2024 can take place safely. The police, fire department and other civil protection organizations of the state Baden-Württemberg will present their daily work at the Fan Zone Schlossplatz, Planie and Eckensee. The police present their new mobile police station, which is being used for the first time at UEFA EURO 2024. Stuttgart says THANK YOU! to all volunteer and full-time emergency services and is organizing a Blue Light Day for young and old under the motto WE SAVE YOUR LIFE! Visitors will gain an insight into the many different areas of operation and can look forward to numerous attractions and stations in the heart of Stuttgart. From 12 noon, the Fan Zone Schlossplatz and the other locations on Planie and at Eckensee will open their doors for the Blue Light Day. There will also be an exciting supporting program in the Fan Zones Marktplatz, Karlsplatz and Schillerplatz with a variety of activities and concerts and plenty of gastronomic highlights.

The Fan Zone Schlossplatz invites football fans to enjoy public viewing throughout the UEFA EURO 2024. All matches of the European Football Championship will be broadcast live on two large screens. In front of a unique city backdrop and together with fans from all over the world, a stadium-like atmosphere will be created. But there is also a varied program for culture and music enthusiasts away from the soccer matches. The Blue Light Day WE SAVE YOUR LIFE! will take place in the Fan Zone Schlossplatz on July 7. Visitors will be able to gain an insight into the daily work of emergency services from various organizations. There will be numerous attractions and stations, such as the fire department's impressive diving container and the DRF Luftrettung rescue helicopter. The varied stage program in the Fan Zone Schlossplatz will be a special experience for the audience with performances by the Federal Police Orchestra, the Baden-Württemberg State Police Orchestra and the Stuttgart Fire Brigade's music band.

In a diving container, divers from the firebrigades Stuttgart and Kehl show their skills under water. You can observe the divers' workthrough viewing windows. The fire brigade divers' equipment can also be viewed.
If you've always been interested in the equipment and work of the rescue at altitude team, the Stuttgart fire brigade's altitude rescue station is the right place for you. You definitely can't miss the station with the fire brigade crane.
Firefighters teach children in an age-appropriate way what they need to be aware of when dealing with fire. With small demonstrations and experiments, the fire brigade teaches the correct behaviour in the event of a fire and often also helps many adults to refresh their already faded knowledge.
The fire brigade museum Stuttgart shows fire brigade history you can touch. For the day of action, three of a total of 30 vehicles will leave the fire service museum in Stuttgart-Münster and be exhibited on Schlossplatz. All vehicles can be viewed and the volunteer colleagues at the fire brigade museum will be happy to tell exciting stories about the fire engines.
At the Stuttgart Youth Fire Brigade, you can show off your skills in a play street, practice using a small fire extinguisher and learn lots of interesting facts about the youth fire department.
Here you can really see something. From water tenders and fire engines from the airport fire brigade to vehicles with a 30 metre turntable ladder. The fire brigade's emergency vehiclesH are on display in all their splendour. You can also see drones at the fire station.

This vehicle show of organisations from the medical and care sector will be a highlight for all car fans among you. The aid organisations with their vehicles and motorbikes can be found at various locations on the Schlossplatz. At these stations, you will have the opportunity to view the wide range of vehicles up close and from the inside.
The recruitment counselling service of the federal and state police and the main customs office in Stuttgart will be providing information about the application process and current recruitment opportunities at their information stands. The customs officers will also provide information on checking counterfeit goods such as national team jerseys and trophies.
Police Headquarters Stuttgart presents its new pilot project here. Talk to the officers and find out all about the new concept for public spaces.
On the bicycle course, children can tackle an obstacle course on bicycles provided. All under the supervision of traffic prevention officers.
Our younger guests can do handicrafts, slip into a police uniform and take photos with the federal police mascot Toni the Bear.
At different stands, the officers will provide information on current pickpocketing scams or the correct behaviour in the railway area. The officers on site will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about crime prevention.

The Bundesverband Rettungshunde will give an insight into the training and use of dogs to search for buried and missing people. The BRH can be found on the Schlossplatz and at the Eckensee with a parkour for the dogs.
The Black Forest Mountain Rescue. together with the DRK Mountain Rescue, presents the mountain rescue. Here you can see the mountain rescue vehicles and ATVs used to carry out rescues on all types of terrain.
The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Relief answers all questions on the subject of emergency precautions at its stand. Here you can also try out packing an emergency backpack.
With the civil protection mobile as part of the Baden-Württemberg state's campaign for young people. A wide range of modern activities are used to introduce young people to civil protection in a fun way. Among other things, the mobile is equipped with a VR module that can be used to extinguish virtual fires. With all its activities, this station invites visitors to join in - whether young or old.

Psychosocial emergency care is a support for people in emergency situations and helps them to return to everyday life, process what they have experienced and deal with the psychological effects. On Blue Light Day, you can talk to the emergency services and find out more about their important work.
The water rescue team specialises in dealing with accidents in the water, floods and other natural disasters. Today you can get to know the modern equipment and working methods of the DLRG.
The cave rescue specialists are trained for complex underground rescue operations and are an integral part of the country's safety architecture. At the stand, the cave rescuers raise awareness of the dangers underground and provide insights into their work.
The Einsatzleitwagen (ELW2, command vehicle) is used in the event of major emergencies. This can be in the case of major fires in industrial plants or heavy rainfall, for example. You can take a close look at the 16 tones vehicle at the stand of the county of Böblingen.
The "Logistics" control unit is a division of the lower disaster control authority of the Ludwigsburg district. The logistics unit is integrated into the MANV concept of the Ludwigsburg district. The head of operations can alert the control unit via the Ludwigsburg integrated control center, e.g. for support during evacuations or care. Participation in disaster control in accordance with the State Disaster Control Act is also part of the control unit's remit. The 2 multi-purpose vehicles (MZF) and the crew transport vehicle (MTW) are integrated into the "Logistics Control Unit" of the Ludwigsburg district.
The THW introduces itself and gives you an understanding of its work. Among other things, you can experience the system with which the THW monitors emergency sites with laser support and warns the rescue services of further dangers in good time. The system is used to monitor buildings at risk of collapse, dykes, slopes and flood situations, among other things. With several of its vehicles and a career mobile, you can meet the Stuttgart District Liaison Command and see how it is dedicated to the security of the country and its citizens and is also an important partner for civil defence. The Bundeswehr will also be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The S-Bahn Stuttgart has its own emergency service, which we will give you an insight into. The emergency service is used for technical assistance in the event of vehicle malfunctions, takes over any necessary evacuation of trains and ensures the care and replacement transport of passengers, whereby the area of operation extends over the entire S-Bahn network. The Animal Emergency Service is on site with a special vehicle at the Municipal Enforcement Service and the Office for Public Order is there with an emergency vehicle from the Municipal Enforcement Service and a small information stand with a poster. The municipal enforcement service (formerly field protection) looks after people and animals in need.
